The story of the drum

It is said, “That when the creator gave a place to all the Spirits which would participate in life on Mother Earth there came a loud sound, a loud BOOM, from afar.” As the Creator listened, the sound came closer and closer until it finally stood before the Creator. The Creator asked, “Who are you?” The answer was, “I am the Spirit of the Drum. I come here to ask You to allow me to participate in this wonderful project.” “Then how will you participate?” the Creator asked doubtfully. I would like to accompany people’s singing. When they sing from the heart, I will play as if I were the heartbeat of Mother Earth. In this way, all creation will sing in harmony and connection.” The Creator granted the request, and from then on the Drum accompanied the voices of the people.

From then on, in all the indigenous peoples of the world, the Drum has been the center of all music and singing. It is the catalyst for the spirit of music and song to ascend to the Creator. So that the prayers, in that music and singing, achieve that for which they are intended. At all times: The sound of the drum brings completeness, excitement, solemnity, strength, courage and the fulfillment to music and singing. It is the heartbeat of Mother Earth that gives approval to those who live on her. It brings the Eagle, who carries the message to the Creator. It changes people’s lives!
